Temporal Lea-ping
MLA Landscape Architecture / Y2 Term 1
Sand Dias
A reclaimed industrial sand
hopper delivers sediment to a
space staked out by culvert
roof remnants.
Temporal Lea-ping is situated at the former Lea Bridge WaterWorks (Middlesex Filter Beds, WaterWorks Nature Reserve, WaterWorks Meadow).
The project is about developing an archive landscape comprised of and built through the redistribution of materials. It proposes the de-culverting of a reach of the Lee Flood Relief Channel, and a re-use of the resulting material fragments (‘culvert detritus’) to re-work the site’s pasts, critique its presents, and enact its futures.
The site becomes timebashed: past, present, and future smashed together into a hybrid, splintered landscape awaiting future ruination.
